[BALU] Any Graphic Card suggestions?

I'd go with a mid- to high-end nVidia. I have a dual-boot with Debian and XP
using an 8800GTS, and that works great for Debian and reasonably well for
games, though I can't quite pull off 1920x1200 at the highest settings any
more. the nVidia drivers have a strange aversion to AIGLX (last I checked,
which was a while back), so you might have problems if you want Compiz-style
effects, but otherwise the proprietary drivers are great.

Also, as far as updates go: what distro are you using? I'm using Debian, but
I don't bother installing the drivers using the package manager, I use
nVidia's installer and monkey with xorg.conf when I need to (which I've only
had to do to set up dual monitors). You'll have to have your kernel's
headers installed before you run the nVidia installer, and you'll have to
keep it up to date yourself, but it's really the best way of doing it--the
modules in the repositories are usually a bit older and somehow don't
necessarily install right, in my experience. YMMV.

Now that we have all this useful information, it would be nice to be able to
do something with it. (Actually, it can be emotionally fulfilling just to
get information. This is usually only true, however, if you have the social
life of a kumquat.)
