Your Ubuntu install will have Synaptic already installed as well as a
Add/Remove at the bottom of your Applications menu.

Synaptic is located in System > Administration > Synaptic Package
Manager.

Once you look around it, it is pretty easy to follow how to use
synaptic.

If you will install ( or maybe it is already installed ) the Synaptic
Package Manager, I think you will find that there is nothing very hard
in Ubuntu about installing programs anymore either. If you don't have
Synaptic, just do "apt-get install synaptic" at a command line ( you
must login as root to do that ).
