Just a note in reply to Jason Sandlin's comment that encrypted email
seems much easier under linux. It looked to me like there were
several options to plug gpg into individual windows clients like
outlook or to set up a local relay to process all mail going through
the system.

I've downloaded the Gmail s/mime extension for firefox which appears
to be produced by the same guy that originally developed GmailFS. I
nabbed a free trial certificate from verisign. If anyone cares to
grab my public key and try sending me an encrypted email directly I'd
love to find out if this thing actually works. Conversely, if anyone
on the list can send me a link to their public cert (firefox doesn't
support ldap directory lookups of certs) I could try sending them an
encrypted message.
