I don't know how ubuntu works, but SuSE distributes the kernel source
in unconfigured state. So if I have kernel 2.6.13-15.15-default and
sources 2.6.13-15.15-default, they are the same version but the config
files in the source tree don't exactly match what the compiled running
version of the kernel.
Prior to compiling any drivers, etc. I have to
That sets up the kernel source tree to be ready for driver compiles.
There is *nothing* in my /lib/modules/<ver>/misc except for the single
zaptel.ko file, so I'm assuming that the directory was created during
the installation of the zaptel driver. If the zaptel build and
install had not completed correctly I would expect the misc directory
would not exist.
