There are copies of bash for windows as well. There are newer versions of many of the tools at unxutils if you google around, but it was just the one that came to mind first. :) Of course, there's always Microsoft's Services for Unix (which was acquired from Interix). ;) It's free now, but it's almost as bloated as CygWin and serves much the same purpose. I think it only comes with ksh, though.

thanks for the tip.  it looks pretty nice, they just need to add bash
and the may have something :-)
